ASBD Executive Officers, 2012-2013

Jean Lynn, MPH, RN, OCN
President

Jean Lynn, MPH, RN, OCN is a certified oncology nurse who is presently a Program Director in the Coordinating Center for Clinical Trials in the Office of the Director at the National Cancer Institute. Before coming to the NCI, Jean was at the George Washington University for 22 years where she was the Program Director of the Breast Care Center and also started the first mobile mammography program in Washington DC. Jean received her nursing degree from Middlesex County College in Edison, NJ, a B.S. degree in Health Care Administration from the University of Maryland and a Master's degree in Public Health from the George Washington University. Jean is presently serving a second term on the Board of Directors of the American Society of Breast Disease. She is currently the membership chair of ASBD and has served on the nominations, education and breast specialty training committees of the ASBD during her tenure as board member. Jean has served on numerous panels and speaker forums related to breast cancer on a national and international basis. Jean is also the President and Co-Founder of the Breast Cancer Care Foundation. (www.breastcancercarefoundation.org) This is a foundation that assists women in the Washington metropolitan area who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. In recognition of her professional achievements, Jean was awarded a Congressional Tribute; a Lifetime Achievement Award from the George Washington University Medical Center; and an NIH Director's award for her role in the NCIs National Community Cancer Centers Program. Jean resides with her husband David in Arlington, VA and has two children, William and Kelly.

Sandhya Pruthi, MD
President-Elect

Sandhya Pruthi, MD has been the Director of the Mayo Clinic Breast Diagnostic Clinic since 2002. She led the effort of collaboration of multiple disciplines to sustain a successful multidisciplinary breast practice. She is highly regarded for her organizational and leadership skills and demonstrated her ability to work with multiple disciplines. The breast clinic practice has been the proud recipient of the multiple Patient Satisfaction Awards under Dr. Pruthi's leadership. Dr. Pruthi has been on the Board of Directors of American Society of Breast Disease in 2007. She is the Chair of the ASBD Consensus Committee (2009-2010). She is also the Vice Chair for the ASBD Advisor Committee and has served as a committee member since 2004. She was on the Educational Program Committee from 2008- 2009 and on the ASBD Symposium Program Committee in 2009 and has been a poster abstract reviewer from 2004-2006 at the Annual Symposiums. She was invited to join the program committee for the annual symposium for the American Society of Clinical Oncology in 2009 and 2010. Dr. Pruthi brings a broad educational background to the multidisciplinary practice in the management of breast diseases. She has rapidly established herself as a superb clinician. She demonstrates an excellent work ethic framed with a personality that perfectly fits her clinical practice in the evaluation of women with benign and malignant breast diseases. Dr. Pruthi was awarded a Clinical Practice Innovation Award in 2007 to develop a multimedia computerized breast cancer education tool for women presenting with early stage breast cancer. She is the co-chair of the Women's Health Editorial Board of Mayo Clinic.com for health care providers. She is the Editor in Chief of a Reader's Digest publication entitled, "The Guide to Women's Health and Wellness" (Marshall Publications). Here research accomplishments are unique and include collaboration and excellence in clinical investigation. She has demonstrated accountability and talent in facilitating collaboration amongst multiple disciplines including surgery, radiology, and medical genetics. She is particularly adept at collaborative efforts and has been responsible for Mayo's participation in leading national chemoprevention trials for women at increased risk for breast cancer and the study of biomarkers for breast cancer risk and assessment.

Stephen A. Feig, MD, FACR
Immediate Past President

Stephen A. Feig, MD, FACR is Director of Breast Imaging at UCI Medical Center and Professor of Clinical Radiology at UCI School of Medicine. A graduate of New York University School of Medicine, Dr. Feig completed his Radiology Residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Bronx Municipal Hospital Center, New York City. A prolific writer and researcher, he is author/co-author of over 120 peer reviewed papers, 170 invited papers, and 60 chapters and author/editor of 20 books. His main areas of clinical interest are breast interventional procedures, mammography, breast ultrasound and breast MRI. His main areas of research interest have been assessment of radiation risk from screening mammography, calculation of benefit/risk ratios from screening mammography, mathematical modeling to determine optimal mammography screening frequencies according to age, evaluation of screening trial data to establish screening benefit. Dr. Feig is imaging editor of Breast Diseases Quarterly. He has held national leadership positions in medical organizations such as American Board of Radiology, American College of Radiology, American Society of Breast Disease, National Council on Radiation Protection, Radiological Society of North America, and Society of Breast Imaging. He has received numerous awards including the highly prestigious Gold Medal from the Society of Breast Imaging in 2003.

Joseph L. Kelley, MD
Secretary-Treasurer

Dr. Joseph L. Kelley is the Director of the Division of Gynecologic Oncology of the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at Magee-Womens Hospital of University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. The Division is nationally recognized for its clinical care, research initiatives and educational mission. Dr. Kelley has been a member of the faculty since 1991. He obtained a Bachelor's Degree from Colgate University, Master of Science Degree from Rutgers University, and a Medical Degree from St. Louis University. He completed a residency in Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at Magee-Womens Hospital in 1989. He was accepted into the Rutledge Fellowship at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, where he received his subspecialty training in gynecologic and breast oncology in 1991. He has been consistently recognized as one of the "Top Doctors" in the Pittsburgh area. Dr. Kelley's research interests center around the application of clinical trials for the treatment of gynecologic and breast cancers. From 2004-2009 he served as the Principal Investigator/Co-Principal Investigator of the Gynecologic Oncology Group (GOG) at the Magee Womens Research Institute. Additionally, he serves as a principal investigator on a number of studies with application of traditional as well as novel therapeutic approaches to cancers. Dr. Kelley has strong collaborative ties with Magee-Womens Research Institute as well as the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute and works with colleagues in areas of interest such as DNA repair in breast and gynecologic cancers as well as investigating the role of application of pharmacokinetics and pharmacogenomics. He is active in the education of medical students, residents and fellows. He serves as the Co-Director of the Gynecologic Oncology Fellowship at Magee Womens Hospital of UPMC. This fellowship is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is one of 40 such programs in the nation. He is also a Professor, Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences, Division of Gynecologic Oncology, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and the Magee Womens Research Institute.
